OC-Tober 2025

So in October of this year, I started my first art prompt month challenge, that being OC-Tober.

The whole thing behind it is that for different days of the month, we’d take our OCs, or make new ones, that fit with the various prompts from each day. The specific version used by me and my friends was the prompt list created by Bweird, which gave each of the weeks their own kind of theme. You didn't have to do it every day, but the dates in red were the ones where it was mandatory to work on.

Introduction Week

Kind of an introduction week to get us all to introduce ourselves and share some of our favorite OCs.

Day 5

Day 1: New OC

I decided to post about a new OC that I had drawn around this time, that being my UTDR OC, Swoop.

Day 2: Old OC

For this day, I decided to redraw/redesign an old OC of mine who I am reworking for my main OC story, who I've named Sasoran.

Day 3: Favorite OC

For my favorite OC, I decided to go with one of my favorites who I would also like to rework in the future, Creanos.

Sona/Self-Inset

For this day, I made my first tinted illustration, which was of Ihnkze & Bohnes.

Under-Appreciated OC

For this one, I went with a pair of twins that I do like, but haven't worked with all that much, and would once again like to do something with in the future, Folan and Faxis.

Development Week

For Development Week, I took the OCs I felt reminded me most of the prompt for the day. It was also this week where I started to feel nervous, so I decided to take it easy with how much detail I was doing with these.

Day 6: Relationships

For this day, I decided to draw my favorite sibling dynamic, Vactor and Tornadoc Rowen.

Day 7: Home

For the prompt, I went with an OC that would probably make me feel at home, and so drew Akira Torimizu, an OC I have been thinking of for a story I have in mind.

Day 8: Personality

I went with an OC whose personality I liked most at the time, which made me realize how I would need to touch on the personality of many of my OCs in the future. But for Day 8, I went with an old OC of mine called Miv.

Day 9: Inventory

For Inventory, I created an OC that would have a really big inventory, and created a Steven Universe OC, Marcasite.

Day 10: Symbolism/Themes

For this one, I drew an OC named Commander Morgong, who was originally inspired by a Skylanders Imaginator I had. I went with him because I really liked the spirit of this one, and I think this was also my first color palette challenge.

Day 11: Skills

For this day, I drew and finished creating Dr. Al Khemia, who I am planning to work more on in the future, either for a future DR fanwork project, and/or potentially a Khemia x Queen fanfic at some point.

Day 12: Weakness

For this day I also created Shadow Lackey, which was really fun since I wanted to create a Shadowguy OC since they're my favorite Chapter 3 enemies.

Choose Your Own Adventure Week

For this week, each day had three options for what you could do with the piece that day. Whether it be the tone of the scene, what your character is, or just doing a color palette challenge.

Day 13: Animal/Silly

I took this opportunity to create my fursona, Tsunake, who would later manifest into becoming one of my mates.

Day 14: Hero/Romantic(Suggestive Warning)

Decided to draw Coda and Wiraline for this day since I had made them recently and even though I'm still figuring out what to do with them, they are my go-to OC couple. Also decided to do the color palette challenge for this day.

Day 15: Villain/Dramatic

For this day I decided to try my hand at pixel art and draw the Black Diamond, an object that serves as an antagonistic force in a story I've been working on.

Day 16: Angel/Tragic

I decided I wanted to draw Malivrahk because I felt like he fits the prompts, and I decided to also do the color palette challenge of the day.

Day 17: Magic/Serene

For the prompt, I decided to draw out Akainu, a character who serves as the sister of Inkubun, and remembers more than they do.

Day 18: Monster/Scary

Because of both the prompt, and the month, I created my monstersona who would later manifest as one of my mates, Morlocast.

Day 19: Alien/Adventurous

I ended up posting about one of my OCs that I had drawn previously, which was a Fire Opal.

Community Week

For this week, our tasks were to draw each other's OCs. This included surprise art, and doing art trades. Because of this, I took the opportunity to draw various OCs I liked and was interested in.

Day 27: Redesign

For Day 27's prompt, I redesigned a pumpkin character I made when I was a teenager.

Day 28-30(Break)

I took a brief break as I felt burnt out and wasn't doing so hot mentally.

Day 31: Halloween

On the last day, I created my halloween-sona, Ghouxls, who may or may not have now manifested into another one of my headmates.

So Was This Worth It?

So after taking on my first full month art challenge what did I think? Was it worth it? Was it fun? Should I do it again?

To answer all those questions minus the latter, yes. It was very fun, and this gave me a bit more motivation to work more on my OCs in the future at some point. I would also like to maybe do this challenge again one day, although next year I doubt I'll do it as I may take on a different challenge for fall and October.
